Are Robotic Pool Cleaners Effective?

Keeping a pool clean can be a real chore. You have to sweep the bottom and walls of the pool to keep algae from forming, and you have to use a net to remove leaves and other debris from the pool as well. If you're looking for a way to make this daily chore easier, we have one simple suggestion--robotic pool cleaners. Many of our customers wonder about the effectiveness of these devices, and we have the answers to those questions right here.

How Effective Are They?

Robotic pool cleaners are great little devices that typically hook into your pool's drain system. This creates suction, and then the robot can crawl along the floor and walls of your pool, removing algae and other debris that has sunk to the bottom. They're extremely effective at cleaning up these kinds of items and making your job a little easier. However, they do have their limits.

Can They Be Used Alone?

Many people think that because they have a robotic cleaner, they never have to do any cleaning of their own. This is not true. Robotic pool cleaners are designed to be a supplementary cleaner, making your cleanings by hand much easier to do; however, those cleanings are still required. Primarily, you will need to skim the leaves from the top of the pool, as the robot can't reach these. But for the most part, you can leave the walls and pool bottom to the robot.
