Tips for Hiring a Pool Contractor

Hiring a pool contractor is not a whole lot different than hiring a contractor for any other type of work on your property. There are definitely things you will want to look for and ask questions about. At ABC Swimming Pools, we have put together the following 3 tips for hiring a pool contractor that will work best for your needs.

Collect a Number of Bids

Ideally, you should plan to get bids from at least 3 pool contractors. Talking to a few different companies will help you get all of your questions answered and find out what a fair price is for the work you need done. Instead of simply hiring the contractor with the lowest bid, consider how comfortable you feel with them, how knowledgeable you feel they were, and what their references had to say.

Talk to Their References

It is very important that you talk to the contractor’s references. It is not enough to read a number of good reviews online for the company. Talking to references may afford you the opportunity to visit the job site and see the work that was done in person.

Look for Licensure and Insurance

Before working with any contractor, make sure they are licensed and insured. Licensure shows you that they are in good standing with local and state government. Insurance protects you from having to pay for shoddy work and from liability in the rare event that the contractor is injured on the job.
